Despite what he had said, Marmon got up early earlier that morning. He had spent over half an hour deciding what to wear when he realized he was being stupid and merely put on jeans, a t shirt and a zip up hoodie. Putting on a hat and a heavy coat, he left.

Outside it was still cold but at least it was no longer snowing. The trains were packed with last minute holiday shoppers and people going to work which only darkened his mood. He hated crowded places. When his phone rang, indicating a message, Marmon was relieved to see it was from Bel. Good, at least he was sure Bel wasn't mad at him.

Before going to Bel's apartment (who's address he had managed to bully out of a newbie secretary at the Varia the previous week), he stopped by at a pastry shop to pick up a cake. The shop was out of the way, but they did have the best cakes.

He got to Bel's a little bit before noon. Taking a deep breath, he knocked on the door.

Bel was wonderfully settled in on his bed when the knock on his door came. He wondered who it was-- it couldn't have been Hibari, because Hibari would have let himself in (he had a key, after all). Frowning, he debated whether or not to get up from his bed and open the door, or let whoever it was freeze out there.

Sighing, Belphegor decided to answer the door. It wouldn't hurt. Besides, it might be the mailman with deliveries of wonderful presents for him (not that he knew anyone who would do that, but it could be a possibility!). He just hoped Jill hadn't found out where he lived yet. That would suck completely.

So, Bel made his way to the door, still in his PJ's. When he opened the door to his apartment, he was, to say the least, shocked to find out who was standing outside. He didn't expect him to show up after what happened.

"...Marmon?"

Bel was definitely surprised to see him. At least he didn't shut the door in Marmon's face. "Let me in," he demanded, "it's cold."

He wasn't quite expecting what happened earlier today, but it did put him more or less in a good mood. Which was why he was grinning wide at the dinner table at [Insert restaurant name here]. His most favorite people were there. What more could he ask for his birthday, right?

Belphegor looked... happy. Or, more accurately, genuinely happy, as the blond man was pretty much always smiling and if Hibari had not known Bel for as long as he had, he might not have been able to distinguish between a happy Belphegor and a normal Belphegor at all. The translator was seated across of the man, as was their usual fashion whenever they happened to come together at an occasion like this. He had, of course, been the first one to arrive in the lot.

Shouichi was just sitting down. "Sorry I'm late." He'd had quite a few things that he needed to wrap up, or at least get to a decent stopping point, before he could get out of the office and hurry to Bel's party. Wrapping everything up so he could get out at a normal time had been an exercise in speed. Bel's large smile was... a little off putting, though Bel did smile quite a bit usually.

"Shishishi~ Pretty sure it'll be a good year. It's 'cause the four of you are here," Bel said. He had Marmon and Shouichi beside him, and Hibari across, and he'd have it no other way. Really. This was probably the best birthday ever. If he didn't count the fact that his brother came out of fucking nowhere, that is. But, he was determined to enjoy tonight so he pushed that minor little detail away.
