Fuuta might have jumped, if he hadn't trained himself to be oblivious to all loud and sudden noises by now. A few weeks under the supervision of Lambo Bovino (or was it the other way around?) and Fuuta had learnt that unexpected shouts, screams, wailing and other sounds of the sort would be the norm in this department.

He had also invested in a pair of very effective, somewhat expensive ear-plugs. Fuuta tried not to use them too often around the office but there were times when he found he could concentrate better with a dull silence buzzing in his ears. Like now. No one was in this part of the office but Fuuta wasn't taking any chances. He bent over his desk, working his way steadily and slowly through a pile of briefs.

But Ryohei wasn't one that could easily be ignored. If you didn't notice him by the noise he generated, he caught your attention in other ways. In this case, he glanced around, found the first familiar person in sight, and strolled over. He put one large hand on top of Fuuta's head and ruffled the boy's hair hard.

"Hey!" he greeted cheerily, peering over Fuuta's shoulder to look curiously at what he was doing.

For a moment, it was all hair and-

Hand? Fuuta blinked and reached for his ear-plugs, forgetting that he was supposed to remove them discreetly while in the presence of Other People. "Sasagawa-san!" One ear-plug dangled traitorously in his hand before he remembered and shoved it under the pile. "Can I help you with something?"

"Haha, what was that, Fuuta?" he asked with a laugh, poking the pile Fuuta had shoved that thing under. Hearing aid? But Fuuta was young! "And I'm here to look for the stuff that the PR guys're missing from their things!" He brought the paper up to show the list of things, because he wasn't actually sure where to start looking for it. Ryohei hadn't wanted to ask his crew to do it, either, busy as they were catching up to work from yesterday.

Looking around at the office (which he was realizing was larger than he initially estimated -- didn't the Marketing department use to have more people?), he decided that no, he couldn't see any of the items in the list at all.

"Okay." Crossing out the book of ideas, Fuuta got up and started prowling about the room. The easiest thing to find would have to be the mounting boards, after all, they were quite big, weren't they? Fuuta vaguely remembered moving a couple the previous evening.

The thing is.... Where did he put them then?

"I think this is the comb someone was talking about..." he mumbled, holding up a brush with some of its teeth missing. Odd things these guys were losing. If it had been him, he would have just bought a new one. Ah, but then again, it was always good to know where your things were! Or something. Kyoko always told him that, even though half his things were at her place, thereabouts.

"Fuuta, what's this?" he asked, holding up a pair of what appeared to be handcuffs. "This isn't in the list, is it?"

"Mm?" Fuuta looked up in the midst of rifling through a set of drawers, a few sheets of paper clutched in his mouth - and froze. "Sasagawa-san!" he exclaimed, dropping the papers he was holding. "Where did you get that?!" A few seconds later, he realised somewhat belatedly, that perhaps it wasn't the best sort of reaction - he sounded almost guilty. "I mean." He snatched up the list again and started scanning it furiously. "I-I don't think so."

Surprised at Fuuta's outburst, Ryohei blinked at him for a moment before shrugging and examining the thing and fiddling with the locks. "This is kinda not something you see in the office every day! Do you guys use this on Lambo?"

He supposed that would make sense. Lambo was an energetic boy!

And then, maybe against his better judgement, he snapped one of the cuffs around his wrist. It locked. "UUUUH. FUUTA?"

In one rare instance that Reborn's schedule was suddenly free of any appointments, media visits, events, or anything of the sort, he had thought to visit the PR department office and check if things were running smoothly.

Because the PR group was now lumped in with the Marketing Division due to renovations being done on their department office, Reborn expected a huge mess to greet him.

Instead he was surprised to find an unexpectedly empty office, save for two people who were strangely handcuffed together.

He paused. "Please do that after hours, hm?"

Their paths only crossed once in a while despite how closely their two departments were associated, but Fuuta didn't even need to turn around to identify the speaker. Reborn-san. The head of legal counsel and PR in Vongola would rank second on Fuuta's list of individuals he would desperately avoid if he was ever handcuffed to another man by accident, only after his own mother.

"It's not what you think, Reborn-san!" Fuuta started, holding up his free hand and praying Ryohei wouldn't drag him off to wherever it was before he could clarify things with Reborn.

So order is Reborn -> Fuuta -> Ryohei until Reborn leaves. extremeonwheels February 18 2009, 01:28:53 UTC
"Ah! Rebo-san!" Ryohei greeted, automatically reaching to scratch the back of his head. Unfortunately, he used the hand that was attached to Fuuta. "Oops, sorry, sorry!"

Ryohei wouldn't say he was scared of Reborn, not at all, but the man WAS someone even he would hesitate to bug. At least Reborn wasn't as much of an irritating and unbudgable ass as Hibari...

"Of course," Reborn nodded, "Do explain to me, though, what it is exactly. There are plenty of ways anyone can misunderstand this situation in which you both have found yourselves in, so for your sakes, I will hold my thoughts."

Fuuta thought of explaining the implications behind the handcuffs, but decided against it. He could always do it later. "Are we going the right way?"

"Yeah, we are." All ways led to ways to get to the lobby, anyway. It wasn't like they could actually get lost. Taking the lead, he tugged Fuuta through the hallways, to the elevators, down to the ground floor, and right through the lobby. Just when some more people were coming in for work.

Seeing the crowd coming in through the lobby, Fuuta stopped in his tracks and without thinking, started trying to pull Ryohei in the opposite direction. "Sasagawa-san, are there any other shortcuts with less people?"

"Whoa, whoa," Ryohei managed to say as he was suddenly yanked back. But they were making so much progress! "What? Shortcut? Less people? But we have to cross the lobby to get there! D'ya want to take a walk outside and use the side entrance?"

[ooc: Looks like Fuuta's about to pull him into a closet, huh?]

"Dunno," was the carefree reply. The crew had merely taken a cursory glance at the handcuff, and nodded politely at the both of them as he stepped aside to let them pass. "S'pretty easy to break the chain, yanno? But taking the cuffs off is different."

"Will they-" Fuuta was only just beginning to realise he'd never come close to a saw before. "-will they have to saw through it or something"

Reply

extremeonwheels February 19 2009, 14:22:29 UTC
"Probably!" He paused, thinking more about it. "Maybe use pliers or a chisel and a hammer? Depends on what we have." A saw would be fastest, though, but also more dangerous. The chain looked pretty thick.

"Don't worry, I'm sure your hand'll survive!" Though Ryohei figured that even if Fuuta lost a finger or so, he'd just tie a pencil to it and life will go on as usual. Fuuta didn't seem like the kind of kid who'd mind so much.

lololol RYOHEI WTF scarfyoutodeath February 19 2009, 14:29:34 UTC
"I'm sure, too, it's just-" Fuuta didn't quite know how to explain himself - he supposed that he probably knew the technique (from reading books here and there) but he'd never used a saw before in his life, apart from the one time in the wood workshop in school. "Would it take long? I should see Reborn-san after this."
