I enjoyed the book, and support it's ideals, but also know that realistically they can't be applied in society as we have it now. It's kind of depressing.
That's one of the big things most people forget about philosophy. They're good core guiding principles and they often work wonderful on a small scale (for instance, Communism works great on something like a hippy commune, but falls apart at larger levels). Randian Objectivism is the same way.
The majority of the world, however, is closer to the Jim Taggart/Wesley Mooch side of the scale than to the Galt/D'Anconia/Rearden side.
