It wasn't an uncommon occurrence on the Thor to see Xion and Hope on a date. Indeed, these days it was rarer to see the young lovers apart. It was almost a wonder they hadn't moved in with each other yet-then again, they were still a ways off from being adults. This particular date saw them revisiting the zoo-something Xion had been wanting to do at her proper size for a while, since she was physically a child the first time they'd went-and, as expected, ended in a trip to the ice cream shop.
After purchasing their ice cream cups, the two sat down on a bench outside the store. They sat in an almost unnatural silence for a while, before Xion broke it by quietly saying, "Hey, Hope...?"
"Yeah?" he replied. Though Hope tried to keep his cool on the outside, the same could not be said about his inner feelings. He didn't like where this conversation was going... not only did Xion sound distraught, but her frozen treat was completely untouched. Something was definitely off.
She shifted a bit, awkwardly fiddling a little with the plastic spoon in her cup. Her eyes were fixated on the ground. "Something's been bothering me for a while."
Uh oh. That didn't sound good. Hope frowned slightly-he hated seeing his girlfriend like this. "What's wrong, Xion?" he asked her, voice full of concern. Whatever problem she had, he was going to set it right. That's what a good boyfriend was supposed to do, wasn't it?
She brought her head up to look at him, but her expression was just as downcast as it was when she started. If anything, she looked a little... guilty. "I... thought we were supposed to be doing things you liked to do. But every time we go on a date, it's always about me... I feel like it's unfair. I want you to have fun, too."
Hope blinked a couple of times, then started laughing. Was that all she'd been worried about? "Xion, I've been doing it the whole time," he told her, now taking on a reassuring tone.
"What?" Xion's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. She didn't understand his reaction at all. He'd been doing it the whole time? From what she could remember, each of their dates so far had been different, and they all involved things that she wanted to do, not him... "What is it?"
He took her hand in his own, entwining his fingers with hers and giving her the warmest smile he could muster. "My favorite thing to do is spend time with you."
Xion stared at him blankly for a while, then lapsed into a giggling fit. With a quick "You dork," she threw her arms around him and kissed him lightly on the cheek. He wasted no time in returning her embrace, kissing her forehead as she nestled her head on his shoulder. The two ended up staying there for the rest of the afternoon, just laughing-spending time together was both their favorite thing to do, after all.
