you know those votive candles, the tall ones they sell in the glass, and sometimes they're green or yellow and have pictures of jesus on the side? i've got those lined up all along the edge of one of my window sills. and my mother calls it blasphemy, but i call it appreciation of something beautiful and lasting.

i have quite a lot of those candles and i burn them all night long on my night stand or counters and sills because i find them romantic.
