He stood on the precipice of dark ravine. It seemed to fall away into nothing below him. There was no where else to go but down, there was nothing behind, nothing beyond.
"You scared of heights, kid?" Wolverine stood next to him, arms crossed. "Not going to get anywhere that way." The man shoved him, and he fell.
He hit the ground, startled awake. He'd been sleeping in a tree in the park, the leaves filtered the light that fell on him as he looked up from where he lay prone. He could hear voices, muffled, happy. People were playing in the open area of the park, hanging out, having a good time. It was a nice day for it.
"Look who finally decided to wake up." Bastet stood, dressed like an amazon, complete with a spear slung over her shoulder, watching him. Ran stood next to her, riding Chase. For some reason the dinosaur was reading a book.
"You can't sleep your life away, Green Eyes." Ran commented.
"Are you coming?" Bastet gestured with her free hand, and Dash stood, dusting his jeans off and stepping forward to meet them.
"Are you paying attention, Tommy?" Ghost snapped fingers in front of his face and Dash started, staring at the man. He was dressed up in some red white and blue getup. Dash remembered it from his memories, and yet somehow it didn't seem out of place on Ghost, even though Ghost wasn't meant to wear it.
"You need to focus." Gray had a red cape on and that headwear Seven had found once. He was holding a staff.
"We've only got one shot at this." That was Throne, except the blond was hulking and green-skinned.
"I think his head's in the clouds." Hybrid was dressed in form-fitting purple, leaning on a bow, twirling an arrow between her fingers.
"What's going on?" Dash asked, looking at the familiar faces all done up in the wrong costumes.
"We're busting you out." Sniper, the one that looked like Gene, threw a dart at a target board. "What's it look like, kid?"
"If you'd just pay attention." Justice was seated across the table from him, he was in an office, but it wasn't medical. It looked like a prison, outside the window. "We could have these forms finished."
"I don't understand." Dash protested.
"You're not looking." Sky and Spike were dressed as guards, standing at attention in the doorway. "We've been trying to tell you but you're not listening."
"Trying to tell me what?"
"You need to wake up, Dash."
