Something's wrong. Last night was the second in a row that I spent tossing and turning without ever falling completely asleep. It's not an anxiety thing or anything, I just can't seem to get the brain to stop flitting around and just go to sleep. Gonna start trying warm milk before bedtime or something ( Read more... )

BNL, great song.

Had the same problem a month or 2 ago, with the overactive thinking keeping me from sleeping... I'd suggest opening the window, letting the cooler air in, and maybe some meditation breathing exercises, calm down and focus on NOT thinking about all those new ideas.

Jogging before bed helps too

I tend to use the "thank you for playing strategy": they give me the "unwanted alternative" and I accept. I've met no one who is prepared to actually back their threats up who I thought could be negotiated with anyhow.

Do you exercise regularly? I've had bouts of insomnia before and that helps me sleep. If this is a regular problem for you, I know there are some pretty effective sleeping drugs on the market these days which aren't habit forming. Not sure if you're into that kind of thing.

I *should* be exercising regularly but am not. And I'm not averse to self-medicating, but would rather leave that as a last resort.
