I just skimmed over the interests you listed. "Tranvestistism" is probably going to be considered an offensive word by most people who it might apply to. I think a more neutral word to list in the interests would be "crossdressing." And maybe do a search to see if more people on LJ have it all as one word or hyphenated, as I've seen it both ways.
i've got the same concerns with the layout that you do, but i mostly read communities from my own friends page and will honestly rarely see the community's journal itself. Plus, i have OCD and if i get started messing with a journal layout, will never finish.
If i had to pick a sort of icon that i'd like to see associated with this community, it would be something like a photograph or painting of a landscape, a sky, a rainstorm (like your own icon)--something neutral and kind of calming. It doesn't have to scream The Reclaiming Sex Community--it could just be something that cues me to feel good and safe about posting.
I am SO the same way about messing with a journal layout (minus the legitimate OCD diagnosis, if you were referring to an actual condition and not just using a euphamism). I'll keep changing and tweaking forever, which sure, I'll do to my own journal. But for a community that tons of people are looking at, I'm sure that would get annoying.
I feel the same way about the icon. I'll keep it all in mind, and hopefully something will surface.
Gosh, thank you so much for your respectful reply about my OCD. You don't know how comforting it is to finally, finally not hear from a relative stranger to whom i've just disclosed, "OMG really i have it tooooo! i organize everything all the time!" Oh, that definitely reinforces my initial opinion that this'll be a good safe space.
By the way, i got here through a recommendation from my good friend kisekileia. i wish you good luck in first time modding, and i hate drama and lj-angst, so i look forward to making this a calm and safe place to discuss stuff that we all deal with in learning and growing towards happy and healthy sexualities.
Wow, doesn't that just show how it's the little things that make a difference to people? I do *not* have OCD, but what I do have is a strong interest in psychology and a husband with an anxiety disorder that has very likely developed into agoraphobia and a` mild form of OCD, from what we can tell. (He's not had good luck with finding trusted therapists, so this is very unofficial.) I can certainly imagine how frustrating that must be for you, that every dang person who uses a lot of hand sanitizer or really likes to be neat and tidy thinks that has anything to do with being obsessive-compulsive. It's like having a wonky PMS mood swing day and calling yourself bipolar, or seeing a thin woman and calling her anorexic. I guess I have a little personal agenda about public perception of mental health. It's either taken *WAY* too lightly, or people are freaked out by it and hurtful. Anyway, I'm glad that today I didn't have to fall into that category of people that aggravate you. Just goes to show how important syntax truly is

the format is a bit iffy. it's hard to read individual comments as they're not delineated very well. and then the column itself is quite narrow and therefore longer than it has to be. i don't have any issues with the colors, just the layout of the text. that's my $.02 anyhow.
I'm not a huge fan of the layout. It's nice, but difficult to distinguish between comments, and which comments go with which thread. It does seem too narrow too, now that you mention it.
I like this layout better than the other one. But it's a little too white for my taste, and for this community the bird reminds me a bit too much of a dove, which is a Christian symbol (albeit a peaceful one often used by liberal Christian groups).
Ah, yeah, you're right. Here's another I was considering. If you happen to still be on, what do you think about this one? Does it make sense to you like it does to me? :-/
It's pretty feminine, but It looks like there are some men in the background. I'm hoping that the iconic image outweighs any lack of gender neutrality it may have.
