Question for friends with school-age kids

Meantones does outreach programs to schools elementary-high school. We do a wide spectrum of peices, from Renaissance polyphony to modern pop (Rockin' Robin :-), jazz (Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen), and World Music. We were thinking that it would be a good addition to include some kind of arrangement of movie/TV tunes that the kids would recognize. (Star ( Read more... )

Here's a short list of likely candidates, and I might add songs I'd be intrigued to hear performed by Meantones:

"We're All In This Together" from the first High School Musical movie.

"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" - yes, every kid still knows Mary Poppins. :-)

"Under The Sea" from Little Mermaid

"Under a Shady Tree" from Jack's Big Music Show by Lori Berkner (twotomatoes.com)

This probably won't halpe, but I'll add that I just took a non-scientific poll of three girls playing cards in the next room (Authors, not Texas Hold-'em, I hope) and they said their favorite songs are:

"America the Beautiful"
(Some Chinese song I don't know and cannot type)
"Big Girls Don't Cry"

Go figure... :-)
