as much as Mike and I could use some good deals on stuff for our house (assuming they ever start building), I have experienced Black Friday only once and will never go through that again. The people are mean and vicious...and I hate crowds. But thanks for the info :-)

really?! where did you go to the sales?! i've only ever been in Asheville, and everyone's very polite - even discussing strategies and where stuff is with other people in line. i'll be in asheville again, so i feel fairly safe doing it again if we decide we want some things.

I was in Raleigh. I spent Thanksgiving with a friend and her family adn her and her mom went every year. So I went with them. Like you said, people had strategies of when/where/how to get things and they rushed in to get what they wanted before anyone else. And the crowds...I could not even walk 2 feet without bumping into 10 people. It was aweful and I've never done it since :-) But it sounds like Asheville is different...so good luck and let me know what good deals you find :-)

oh, everyone was rushing and jostling each other in asheville. but no one was mean - it was more like everyone giggled when they accidentally bumped into each other. people were punchy from being up so early and giddy about getting deals. "oh, heehee, sorry!" "oops! haha 'scuse me!" i despise crowds but found the experience enjoyable cuz everyone was in a good mood. man, it was a madhouse too. the line before opening was HUGE!

Shopping on black friday is a family tradition in my house. We've been every year that we've been together since I was a kid. I've always had fun and never had any bad experiences, not matter where I was. It was usually more fun when I was with my parents, though, since they have more money.
