I found the Ubuntu experience to be a good one.

"Out of the box" it identified everything I was running, and I was running some pretty strange stuff (like XBox joysticks).

I was running "Breezy Badger"

Just be warned that it's a GNOME package, not KDE so some of your apps will change.

I recently tried Kubuntu under "Dapper Drake" and had some problems with my new WiFi card. This appears to be the network card, not Ubuntu. (Netgear USED to be good :-/)

Again, an amazing "Out of the Box" experience.

I'll download a live CD and see how it works. It seems like a good 'suck it an see' approach
