LOL, LJ. Thank god I don't have a paid account. I wonder if permanent users will get a refund when they get rid of paid accounts once and for all?

I hope all you west-coast people got through the storm more or less unharmed! *hugs*

I heard they're getting rid of paid ljs? But surely that's just a terrible rumor because even the LJ admins aren't that stupid.

As far as I've read/gotten translated from the russians (my russian is pretty bad, haven't had to use it in years) they plan to get rid of the paid accounts by next year. They're already making most of their money through the bought promo feature that only the cyrrilic users see, and through a few ads on the 'popular' Journals like ONTD and nicety etc.

UGH BUT BUT BUT BUT WHAT ABOUT ADDITIONAL USERPIC SPACE? WILL THAT JUST BE SOMETHING YOU PAY FOR SEPARATELY?
Anyway, Livejournal is really pushing on my nerves right now with these changes.

I pay for an account for a reason (no ads, more userpics), so this is pissing me off. Ugh.

Yeah. I never had the money myself cause I'm barely scraping by as it is, but this is basically a giant fuck you to the paid account holders.

They're not getting rid of paid accounts:

Then, one note unrelated to the Friends feed, I noticed a lot of concern in the comments to news and lj_releases yesterday about comments that were made in the Russian news posts. Some comments by staff members there were being auto-translated as saying we would be 'canceling paid accounts next year'. The Russian terms used in these comments were being translated as the English word 'cancel', which of course has a specific negative meaning (to take away something that someone already possesses, etc ( ... )
