I did not get Lily Allen until last week when B came across a music video of "Smile". Before, I thought it was just an annoying repetitive song with an inexplicable fan base.
I have blunt cut bangs
Now, I totally get it! Her music matches her looks, which are all innocent and naive, even trite on the outside. but if you just listen you'll realize it's exactly the opposite.
Here it is, for your viewing pleasure:

As fortune would have it, her CD was at the top of the stack when I browsed my library's bookmobile so I immediately familiarized myself with all her other songs. After "Smile"'s gratifyingly malicious story of vengeance, I couldn't wait to see how she'd illustrate the other songs...but her other videos don't quite maintain the same level of genius. Still, I can't get over how she's able to maintain such a thick accent in her singing when we all know that normally when accented people sing they sound totally normal!
