So tell me, I am still very much a neophyte [stream-of-conscious aside: like Neo at the beginning -- that first movie is one of my kids favorites. At the time I was still a size 6 and people used to tell me I should go as Trinity for Halloween because I looked like her], how does one "just send [you] an email?" How do people here hook up for non-public conversations? I don't hide who I am or where I am, and anyone can google "Karin Wikoff" and learn lots about me, but I don't know how to reach others in a private fashion -- if they are willing to be reached.

Thanks,

Quite a few of us keep our private lives just that, private. I try to keep my identity quiet mainly because I don't always have the nicest things to say about Wells and while I was a student there it wasn't all that uncommon for me to have something benign twisted and for me to receive a summons to Dean Green's office. (Once it was someone who overheard me in the dining hall talking about the fact that my little brother got no financial aid and the girl translated that into Wells is stopping financial aid... yea that was fun to sort through...) That and some of Wells staff read livejournal or were a part of it and in some cases it was too much personal information out there.

For the most part though, if you want to send people emails, just send them posts. You can put your email in it and request they delete it after or some other arrangement. Really it's up to you... if this is more than just a "how to" question and you really would like to email me, post back and I'll send an email address over to you...

Hope that helped!

In other words, in order to have a private off-forum conversation so as to respect and preserve the privacy of both parties, one should post a note saying Please contact me by privately by e-mail, if you wish. Of course, it's dependent on the other person WANTING to have such a conversation and being willing to potentially compromise her identity to the requester.

I hope I make that easy for anyone to talk to me because I don't work there any more and have been public in my positions for quite some time. I am easy to find.

Be absolutely certain Wells administration does monitor this forum and any other where anything even vaguely negative is ever said about Wells. Like so many other people, I can't name names, but I did know an employee who worked for "External Relations" who basically did nothing but dig dirt on people the administration considered "enemies of the college" -- which is pretty loosely defined as anyone who ever said anything negative about the administration at Wells: anyone who opposed their plans or in any way ( ... )
