Dems and Reps going in different directions

I've been going around and around this political season, sort of a pox on both your house between the Demos and Repos... The Tea Party is making me think coffee more and more. I guess I am seeing a lot of scare, and not so much leadership. I am stuck. I like Jerry Brown, I always have, I remember him as Govenor, and I find it ironic that he ( Read more... )

I've been going through those contortions myself. Voting agaist the incumbents is a good strategy, but doesn't help in the Governor's race (I have mixed memories of Brown as well).

Actually my problem is I like Brown and I going to (probably) vote against him, because I dislike the Demos in the Legislature more, far more, and will be voting against any Demo running for the Legislature I can. I happen to dislike Boxer more, far more than I like Carly.

I like Brown and will voting for him because I think that cuts out the pigheaded excuse for the legislature Demos. That is, they can't use the excuse that he's a Demo just to foot-drag or be obstinate. (They will find other excuses, I'm sure.)

I also dislike Boxer, but can't bring myself to vote for Carly.

You know the only way you get rid of the people you don't like is to vote them out... IF Carly is as bad or worse you vote HER out, if she is better you've improved the "breed"... It will NEVER get better if you settle for the same thing. That is the definition of insanity.

If the governorship was actually the CEO of California, I'd say great, let's vote for Meg. Sadly, the governor doesn't have the power to fire the legislature or make them do what the governor wants. I think that her very strong views will not help both sides of the aisle work together and there will be even more gridlock.

Brown gets that cuts have to be made. I'm a pretty left-leaning person, and I get that cuts have to be made and real people will suffer, but the current deficits are not sustainable. I really think he will do a better job than Meg would.

Humm I get the CEO part.. but Meg would tend to veto a reapportion bill that vastly benefits the Demos, whereas Brown wouldn't, As a right-leaning guy I am surprised I like Brown as much as I do. If he were running for Senate I'd have his sign on my lawn and would be knocking doors for him..

Weird. I thought the real problem with the governing of this state was the proposition process. Abolish that, then we'll talk. As long as angry, loony voters can put whatever stupid crap they want on the ballot as a proposition with no accountability to fund or oversee it, this state will not work.
