I'm taking 4 online classes and one at north haven there next semester, you dont have to be at the class online at any time, you actually just have to login during the day and most of them make u complete ur work by a deadline for example: monday's assignment may be to read then write a 3-4 page response by tuesday at 11:00pm and what u do is login with ur banner id number, like a school id number.. and.. u post ur work on the "discussion board" or email it to your teacher from the online site--- by the deadline, did i confuse u or did i make sense lol.. sometimes i confuse me :p

i love the school, the teachers are great if u can take a class with al pesticci, he rocks and mr. medina is the most intelligent man you'll ever meet, http://www.ratemyrpofessors.com has a lot of reviews on who to take and look out for, eddie rose is a no no for math just a warning... the school setting is friendly, no one bugs ya, people will help u out... and the classes honestly feel so mature.. most of my classes had adults in them... but.. some kids, either way you'll see the change from high school to college there, it's cheap enough and like i want to transfer with an associate degree (im a general studies student..) so.. i can transfer out hopefully in the spring or so.. with that, it's a good school to take advantage of, if you dont wanna be there forever i recommend taking a full schedule like-- 4/5 classes each semester.. and talking to guidance about which classes to take.. hmm u can take more then 1 online to, so it's cool if u wanna stay home and take 2 ( ... )

lol WOW! What's a CRN? Thanks for all that good information. Everything made perfect sense to me. The only thing about taking the "required" classes, is I'm going there strictly for History. I'm was planning on taking Western Civ, US History, and US Gov't (Online) my first term and then seeing where that brought me. The only reasoning is, As of right now I'm paying for all of this out of pocket, My whole paycheck this week is going to registering ($350, And I'm doing the Installation plan. But I may take that Earth Science class to start my requirements, to take that do I have to take the placement test? That's something I was trying to stay away from, for at least this year, I haven't decided what I want to do next year. History is a Non-Degree program at Gateway So I don't know. Thursday I'm going to register and talk to someone in guidance, I need all the guidance I can get with this.. Ahhh I just don't know. Help? LOL I'll take suggestions. But thanks soooo much for all those helpful comments.

a crn is like the course number, when you go to the site above and look at the classes u wanna register in (it's easier to register online either at home or at the school because the course book the times get changed and sometimes they dont let u know until 2-3 days after classes started which isnt a great first impression) anyways.. yeah it's the crn number, i believe it's 4 digits like 0234 say is a math class u want, and u copy and paste that into the little boxes under the register part... i can explain it much more when u get ur banner id number and login cause i can give u step by step instructions or.. you can go to the school and go to the registar office-- theres this spanish guy in there his desk is the first one to the right, he's really friendly and helpful.. well he can show u the first time on the pc's they have there so u can do it there then next semester you'll know how to do it at home.. okay if your there for history then make an appt at the gudiance/counseler and she'll give you a paper with all the classes u need ( ... )

Okay, So I've basically decided that I am going to go for general studies.. now. More questions, if you don't mind of course. Is there a minimum amount of classes I have to take this first semester, like can I just take 3? What classes do you take for a general studies degree? English, Math, Science, History? Ick, I hate Math by the way.. LOL. Can I be a part time student and still go for general studies? I'm planning on going to LW tomarrow or thursday to sign up and register.. Do they do placement tests everday? It would be nice to be able to take the test the same day instead of having to go back, but I will if I have to. What kind of books do you usually need? OH YEA, Do I have to take electives? I have a friend whose going to gateway and she has like a piano elective and stuff.. Do I haveta do that tooo?!? I'd liket to spend as little money as possible, you know? LOL. I'll just take the required stuff, English, Math, History, Science... or whatever else it requires. Isn't Socialology another requirement of General Studies? ( ... )

I have the general studies list... You can take 3 but you'll be part time like you said, not full time, it's good to be full time because then you'll finish college, well the community college in the two year or so period that it's recommended, though I know people who've taken 2/3 classes and are in their fourth year, it's all you to you and your schedule.. yes you can be part time and go toward any degree as far as I know. I'll give you a list of things to take, I have the list saved on my PC and the numbers you see are levels, when you take your placement test you'll understand those numbers on my list I'll send you. You have to take 21- credits of open electives, so yes. Unfort, for all degrees you need electives to make you a "well rounded student" actually sociology and psychology are on that list, I'm taking sociology online next semester..
