EMERGENCY

This is a crisis situation, and it's crucial that you answer the following question as honestly as is humanly possible: What the hell do you do when you have writer's block, but the paper you're writing is due the next day?

Help. Please.

start writing backwards, write the end, then write the middle, then at the last available minute, write the begining. it helps if you can't think of how to write to where you want to be, start there, then write the stuff you couldn't think of.

And if all else fails, download a couple of papers off the internet, print them out, and re-type them, using NONE of the sentences in the papers, only the gist of them.

My most favorite prof ever told me in the same situation: "JUST WRITE IT."

I know, it doesn't really sound like advice. But still. I think she had the right of it; sometimes "writer's block" is really just in your head, and you have to kind of ignore it, or tell it to go fuck itself, and just write the paper.

So take a little while, go do something else, lots of deep breaths, relax, and then go back to your desk, look at the paper, and say "Look you, you're going to get done."

Gotta be firm with those silly papers. They're such flighty things.

Sorry, I've been without internet the last couple of days so I just saw this post. I'm probably too late this time, but for next time... I usually try reading something along the same lines or subject for inspiration.
