Wow, I hadn't heard that about Spirited Anarchy. I'm surprised. I'd heard something about problems getting Old Market Square without insurance, maybe this has something to do with it. I'll ask around to see what I can find out.
The BIZ was asked “permission” to use Old Market Square, as they are apparently its gatekeepers?
One of the people making a poster thought it would be funny to put the logo of the BIZ on it as if to say “The BIZ supports anarchism!” This seems poorly thought out, which I will tell them next time I see them.
On Saturday the 10th, Old Market Square will convert into a unique outdoor book market in the all-day S.A. Fest Book Fair, co-sponsored by the Exchange District BIZ. This event will be free and open to all, and will feature book vendors from across the city and continent. In tandem with the book fair, a variety of workshops, performances and talks will be held in and around Old Market Square. The weekend will hit its peak on Saturday night with a 4-Floor open house/fundraiser party at the A-Zone. Admission will be by donation.
thats what up on the facebook thing that like 500 people were invited to. everyone ive asked about it has had a different response/explanation a to why - your the first person whose explanation has included it being a joke/an attempt at subversion. i dunno the lass from the dragon i talked to gave me the impression it was what was agreed upon to use the space and to have them provide security or something, as copwatch volunteered to do security (???!!!) and that wasnt good enough. i dunno it all seems really dodgy to me.
Here's more:biz is footing the mega insurance the city cahrges for the market square anarchist bookfair. in exchange, we didnt tell the biz it was an anarchist fair. and they want the logo on the posters. yup. Ug.
ugh is right. i dont understand why peeps would sell the fest out to the biz of all people rather then just pick somewhere else to have it. the historicalness and romanticism of old market sqaure is kinda lost when you cater to the fucks who are destroying it.

Ugh, now that's been sent about to a bunch of people and can't be changed!
This person's effort to be subversive is terrible.
