Well it's been a while since I posted here and I thought I'd better give an update to people who still read this. Just some updates with my life, whats been going on and whats in the making.
So this year so far. It appears to be going well. It's had a few bumps as expected but at least it's all looking up now.
Transport wise, the Rover is dead. The harsh winter had taken it's toll and to keep it in a roadworthy condition was going to set me back over £400, add £200 road tax and a looming MOT on top of these figures and it was really not worth keeping it running. It's now slowly being broken down and sold on for spares which seems to be selling well at the moment. Within the next month, it should be moved to a breakers yard and weighed in for scrap. It's been a fun two years with that car and looking back, yes, it was a dog when I bought it. But for the £150 I paid for it, it's done me really fine service. 2 trips to Germany, a lap of the nurburgring, it was well travelled over the UK having been to Cornwall, Portsmouth, York, Manchester, Sheffield to name but a few places and not once did it let me down or leave me stranded. And the head gasket was fine ;) So fare thee well Rover. Rust in peace.
In good news transport related, the old Honda Cub 90 is going exceedingly well, no problems to report and has now done nearly 4000 miles on the new engine. It's averaging 120mpg on long runs and with the new 4 speed box and larger capacity engine, it's a more adequate bike for long distance travel than it ever was previously. I probably will keep it until mid next year before my CBT expires, then I'll look to getting a full bike license and get a nice 400 or 600 for commuting around on. Something with a bit more welly.
I may end up getting a new car but we'll see for the moment, with this years focus being 'debt clearance', I think having no car is helping with that so again, that may well wait until next year and then I'll save up for something special :)
Debt clearance wise, things are looking good. Two of my credit cards have been consolidated into one which will be at 0% for the next 18 months, My £300 overdraft has been cleared, a big loan from 2008 finishes in July which gives me back £114 a month and my last credit card is slowly being brought down chunk by chunk. By the start of next year, the cards should be cleared/closed and all I'll have left is one loan which was from the court case which is presently £103 a month. Shouldn't take me long to dispose of that with some spare income! I have also found that on a lot of these loans, I had PPI on them at some quite hefty rates so letters have been sent for rebates on this too.
Health wise, this is now looking a little squiffy. I'm off to the doctors for some blood tests this week to determine what my problem is. I am constantly thirsty, constantly urinating and my skin is always feeling dry and irritable. The early signs are pointing to diabetes, a recent urine sample has shown excess sugar levels. Of course, I will keep people updated with this.
Job wise, things couldn't be better! I've really settled into this role, am constantly achieving bonus for hitting my performance and quality targets (no sales targets here, just purely customer service focused!). I also recently was moved down into the admin department which I was able to adapt to quickly. This was only temporary for a few weeks whilst they were snowed under but it was nice to have variety. It also looks good on me if Iam flexible to the business and improves promotion prospects so yeah, it's all good :)
Love life, I am still single and will still be single for the forseeable future. It's not something I'm focusing on and is something I can do without, I've enough on my plate for the time being methinks :P
Family wise, we have recieved good news regarding the ongoing treatment of my mothers cancer. The main part has been cut out, part of her liver is also to be removed in the next few weeks to remove some cancerous cells that had developed and once thats been processed, then her ileostomy can be reversed and life can resume as normal. We have been told she has an expectancy of between 5 and 10 years but they say this is a rough guide and people can live longer than that. My mother is making a good recovery so naturally, we are pleased with this and it sounds quite promising.
and finally, it's been a lot of work but it is nice to be expanding Frantic Eufuria into something bigger and more enjoyable. I am really excited with the propositions we have in place and I am delighted to be working with a very enthusiastic manager at the Bristol YHA who seems to be pretty much bending over backwards to help us out. Long may this continue and lets put on a party people won't forget in a hurry!
Other than the above, there's nothing much else happening. I'm still not going to any conventions this year , again to save money, and it would seem life carries on!
Foxx fox out!
