The photos are all so beautiful. How close can you get to the butterflies? Are using a macro lens for closeups?

Thanks. I'm just zooming in with the telemacro setting on until I can't get any closer. Still learning, but I've been quite pleased with a few of the shots I've taken. I have been using the 'auto' setting though, but plan to have a go with the manual setting tomorrow which will probably be more challenging!

Lovely shots. :) I actually took some shots of my garden this morning, but I haven't gotten around to uploading them yet.

Thank you. I'll keep an eye out for yours now that I have access to LJ again!

Beautiful butterflies. I love seeing them in the garden here too but we are not getting near as many as you.
How hot is it there?
We have been very nice, around 74 degrees F.
Most of the nation has been sweltering in triple digit numbers. My kids said it was 102 in UT yesterday.
Ouch!
I am so spoiled I guess. This weekend is supposed to heat up but it is July so no complaints.
I cut so much hair off the dog he looks kind of bald.
I love the cat icon that is animated ...the one you used in another post of your black cat.
Hugs friend.

I love butterflies (did you guess?) :) There have been quite a few different ones but not in any great number. We were talking about it yesterday, remembering one hot summer about ten years ago when the buddleias were covered with them, so they have definitely declined.

It peaked at 100 here yesterday! It was just at that stage when you think it couldn't get any hotter then we had a huge downpour or heavy rain and it is a little cooler today. We are not geared up for it at all over here and our house has been so hot in the evenings.

I've been trying to keep the cats cool by wetting them with a cloth and they tolerate it :)

My new camera has an 'animation' feature on it, so beware ...

*big hugs* to you - glad you didn't stay away too long.

We are supposed to get our share of the heat this next few days while the rest of the nation gets rain. Guess it is only fair.
We have had very few butterflies this last few years.
Global warming?

Yes, I'm pleased that the seeds decided to do something this year - it's a nice memory to have :)

Hello Paul - great to see you and hope you are OK.

Yes, there's fairies, and a few little gnomes hiding out there in the undergrowth :)
