The role of elected officials

Do you run for office because you think you know how things should work and you'd like to make that happen (through legal channels and stating your intentions while you're running for office), or because you want to execute the will of the majority?

If you really do mean your father, then can I have some of the billions? I will make you pie.

If not, then Bush isn't the one who inspired this, but the illustrious girly-man governor of California. But it's interesting: they're both in the position where they could do a lot of good or a lot of harm, if they chose my personal preference of A.

I would imagine that since the will of the majority put me into office in the first place and could take me out again should I muck up completely, I would trust myself with the moral/ethical responsibilities of working through issues from my own personal standpoint.

A very good discussion question!
