Could you complain to management about the noise? That way it won't come from you per se, as in a general please don't set up mats in front of people's house.

If it were me I'd be outside saying things like, eh no need to talk so loud and shriek can? Your friend is just sitting next to you. I've shushed the maids in my estate before cos I think it's unreasonable if they're too loud. Talking is ok, but these girls will shout across the carpark to each other like in the province. I went SSHHHH go over there and talk to her lah, shout so loud, stand so far. Maid gave me a dirty look but since then it's better.

I'm a troublemaker lah, Joe's always worried about what people think when I do that.

Cannot one woman... the maids here already think I'm a bloody bitch cos they mostly have angmoh expat bosses who are so damn lax with them, and I've always been the strict local chinese employer (during loan period no off days, after which only have ONE off day a month, maid works till 10pm at night versus their 8pm then can go outside jalan jalan - mine not allowed to go in and out of house as and when she likes, cannot wear spaghetti straps and micro-mini shorts - you should see what some of these maids wear ok woman... you'll DIE or you will put permanent blinkers on Joe, seriously....). So if I still open my mouth to scold them or shussh them, I tell you, they will gossip about me and do dunno what other nonsense ok. The maids here are VERY daring... one other resident told them off for making too much noise at a BBQ pit, and they actually argued back with her can?!?
