I am so happy that classes have finally started. Finally I feel useful again. Weeks of preparation and all those books I read over the summer are paying off. The more time I spend up here in this secluded paradise of sorts, the more I feel separated from reality. We have the best of everything here - Instructors known for their reputations in the ring and out of it, incredible training equipment, excellent food...so why do I feel like I'm missing something ( Read more... )

Has anyone else noticed how slow time seems to move being up here in the mountains? It's almost like we're in our own little world here. I've noticed some of the students seem to be already making new friends, and some seem to be attracting enemies, but that's part of what school is all about. It's nice being back, the mountain air and pleasant atmosphere is proving good for my spirits and complexion. My housemate seems like a good sort, keeps to herself so far and doesn't seem to mind my preference for having a souchu nightcap before bed. Or vodka...well, whatever I can find really.
