I survived the move. I used professional movers, which was A Good Thing. My very patient and caring friends helped me pack (did most of it, frankly, sigh). I finally got rid of the dead car in the driveway (long story there), and got X to take as much of his stuff away as he wanted.

So. I moved last weekend. Friday AM, the head of the moving company came to do a walk-through, and made discouraging noises about how much work remained. With the help of my long-suffering friends and Evil Twin, we got almost everything packed by Saturday AM; the moving co. was able to send a couple of guys to start loading the truck on Friday ( Read more... )

Well, I finally heard back from X. Among other things, he let me know that he is involved in a rather serious relationship. And he carefully, but bluntly, told me not to hold on to any hope that we'll ever get back together. He was right to do so; holding on to hope has not done me any good. Well. Now I have closure. I don't know if he reads this (he does know about it), but I wanted him to hear about it from me, personally, first.
