Okay I haven’t posted in a while but things have been well...weird.
Here is the run down.
(A) Work is still in the mostly telecommute stage. Work one day a week there and the rest telecommuting. I find I am having to do more and email a lot more to keep things going. I’d forgotten how much communication in my department talked amongst ourselves to keep track of things. I am slowly getting into the swing of it (it has almost been like starting a new job).
(B) Did vacation at sister in laws for a week. It was fun - at some point I’ll get around to posting the pictures. I am proud of the shot of Gina feeding the giraffe through the sun roof. Travel is “okay”. Airlines are not as much fun as they used to be. The idea of dressing for the security check ( sandals because you have to take off your shoes - fanny pack to put all the tech and metallic things in. Have the laptop ready to be inspected.
(C) We did get a new laptop for the vacation which is pretty sweet. I can even play City of Heroes on it! It made being offline for a week much more palatable.
(D) Moped keeps going and I love it - but have to look at getting a new floorboard for it. I was forced into a wheel-eating pothole and the plastic got cracked.
(E) City of Heroes keeps going although I was kinda of disappointed in the update. The idea was cool and the new zone Cimmora looked great. A time travel to ancient Greece / Roman village. Butttt once you get there and play for a bit you realize that there really is not much to do. A tiny training arc that explains a bit of the story line and a big task force that you need a STRONG group to handle - that’s it. Compared to the other zones that is ridiculously little to do. In any case two of our characters are closing in on Level 50. The final level for them. We have had a bad case of alt-itis so have a range of character from level 8 to level 49. i suppose if we had just stuck with the original two we would have been at 50 long ago. Still I would rather enjoy the trip then just arrive at the destination. Still looking forward to Champions Online. Same team just taking everything they learned from City of Heroes and doing a version 2 from it.
(F) I had to get a new DVD-R drive. I was starting to find it hard to burn DVDs. I was trying out various distros of Fedora and Umbuntu and you can’t really install without a DVD. It took time to figure out it was the drive because the problems were different and sort of random.
(G) Party for Fourth of July was marvelous. Still missing the grand conflagration but it was great seeing folks and hanging out.
