It was worse that Aya knew exactly what was waiting for him back at his home. The self-induced misery and the isolation, the complete powerlessness of anyone else-- including her-- to help change that. Omi's return meant whatever happiness he'd found in Somarium was over for him.
It was bad enough to miss someone and mourn the loss. It was worse to know that person had gone to a place where he was destined to suffer.
She's sitting on the edge of her bed, curled over and weeping. Clutched in her right hand is the heart-shaped locket Omi gave her just a month ago for her birthday, the thin chain draping about her forearm.
It's just not enough.]
