This is a fantastic story. I like the glimpse we get of Order work and James's post-Hogwarts life. The characters are all very vivid and believable, but with an original twist. I especially like the idea that James, after pursuing Lily for so long, now has doubts about actually getting married. It's also deliciously ironic to see Remus being the voice of wisdom here, even though years later he'll be making some of the very mistakes he's now warning James about.

I also like the relationships we see here -- James and Lily both looking after Remus post-moon, and Lily throwing carrots at James when he teases her. Lovely!

Thank you!

Remus really took on a life of his own here, and it wasn't until that scene was more than halfway written that I realized just how ironic it was becoming... But I think the irony really underlines James' issues, which of course are similar to Remus' issues later - I think living through that kind of situation could easily make you lose perspective and question what you were doing and where you were going with your life. I liked the idea that James suddenly found himself in over his head.

I always thought that Lily would be friendly with all the Marauders, and I loved that her letter to Sirius in DH confirmed it, and I wanted to capture that kind of "life goes on" atmosphere.

... Enough rambling. Thanks for your comments! :)

Oh, I love this! And my apologies for taking so long to review it. It really deserves tons of reviews. It's lovely. :)

I really like how you've gotten into James' head in this. It's a very realistic portrayal of someone madly in love, but who is also only 19 and in the midst of war. Anyone would be torn about marriage in that situation. And yet Remus has points, too, about seizing the moment and living NOW (ironic that he doesn't listen to his own advice later, lol). So the way you resolved it at the end -- we know Lily and James will marry, but we don't know when -- was wonderful.

I also liked getting a glimpse of competent Lily, doing her job to the fullest, doing what she needs to do to get information. And of course James seeing her in that role would be a bit shocked.

But the scene at the end, with the fabulous banter and throwing of carrots, reminds us of what is real between them. Just wonderful.

Thank you for posting this. :D
