This is a bad idea.

Amusingly, I stumbled upon it while searching for information that maybe you LJ geeks can help me with. Try looking at the OS X Gui for Graphviz and any other gui for graphviz you can find. Emulab has a little Java gui where you can click and drag nodes and links and it will create a config file for you. I'm not sure what they used as their widget, but it might be public.

I feel like "snog graph" should be part of some terribly clever palindrome, but I'm stumped. :)

I'm not sure, but what about Cytoscape? We used it in our project just for visualization.
