I disagree with the notion that it's a religious thing. Only some religions seem to be bothered by it. Obviously, the jewish-christian-muslim contingent does, but it's not a facet of all religions.

You disagree and then explain my point?

How is the law not religious in basis, considering the nation in discussion has laws that were and still are based in an Abrahamic morality?

The law is religious in basis, I don't disagree there. I thought you were saying the morality of it is religious, as in spiritually.

And that I disagree with, as many religions don't have prohibitions against suicide, and don't regard it as a spiritual or moral sin.

There are people that are so mentally ill that they believe that they are so worthless that they do kill themselves in ways that have the least impact on the people around them. My cousin had a good friend and housemate that killed himself in a secluded backwoods area in his car. The day before he sent letters to the local authorities telling his whereabouts, so that no one he knew had to be the ones to find him and have those visual memories.

Sometimes people that are broken feel so insignificant that not even their last act should be an inconvinence to others.

That's really, really sad.
