In brief, remains of a previously unknown species of human have been found on the island of Flores, in Indonesia. The new species, dubbed Homo floresiensis and nicknamed "hobbits", stood an average of one meter tall and had a brain 1/3 the size of a modern human. They made stone tools, hunted dwarf elephants
