1. Last weekend while I was sick (I include Monday here, as I stayed home from work and spent the day in bed.) I watched the first season of The West Wing. Loved it. Anyone have season two I could borrow ( Read more... )

We won't end up with a pure anything - it will be a mutt from the humane society. Most of them have lab in the mix somewhere.

I think Sadie would love a chance to do puppy socialization stuff. She has this fun game called "get the foots" that she loves to teach to other dogs...

Get a crate big enough for an adult dog. The wire-mesh type crates usually have a divider included to reduce the size. Crate training is absolutely vital for puppies! And the habit may continue into adulthood if you can't trust the dog to be alone in the house without destroying things (which is why Sperry is crated during the day, but Rubucac isn't).

Puppy training courses are really good socialization. We have taken both our dogs to the Petsmart on New Brighton in Minneapolis. The trainer there is just wonderful. The other good thing for socialization is the off-leash dog parks. We go to the Minnehaha Park dog park, down by the river (not enough, I'm afraid).

You're welcome to bring the puppy over here sometime for socialization! Our dogs LOVE puppies!

We did end up with a big crate. There isn't a divider, but we'll put a box in it and it will be fine.

Thanks for the hint about the Petsmart classes, I'll go check into that.
