I could see how someone could see it that way, but that wasn't what came to mind for me when I first saw it.

I think it's cause of the fact that they need to do something 'manly' afterwards, implying that men who kiss men even accidentally aren't manly. Also, the ending where one hits another with the big wrench is offensive cause he's hitting the other guy cause they may have done something gay (?).
