I've been saying this for months now. He can FLY. Why doesn't just fly up into the atmosphere high enough that he doesn't kill anyone. Now it's obvious that Nathan will be forced to let go of Peter once he's too far up but peter's healing will keep him alive.
Syler is still alive. He's a character in the second season as per the writers.
I think the writers were trying to make it a point of saying (when they pointed out he couldnt control his abilities) that Peter couldnt fly when he needed to - like it was a concentration problem or something. It still sounds really cop-out ish to me.
Had it been written better, Peter would have explained that he couldn't fly because he concentrating completely on not blowing up. Claire would have shot him, because, hey, he will live through it anyway, but he should have kept on glowing brighter even while unconscious and Nathan would have saved the day eventually.
That's the way it was in my head, anyway. The way it was shown was kinda weak.
Yeah, I was hoping for a power free for all. Either Peter vs Sylar or the team vs. Sylar. It reminded me of Bab5 where there was a huge build up to the final battle of the shadow war, but then the oldest corporeal being the galaxy talked the big races into just leaving in the middle. LAME!
I was very disappointed that Sylar was not killed. I really think he needs to die -- he's not a strong enough villain to carry the series, nor is he all that integral to the plot except as the "Peter-who-eats-BRAAAAAINS."
A ten-minute fight with Peter where Hiro sneaks up and kills Sylar as he tries to deliver a killing blow to Peter would have been cool, then have Nathan fly up and blow himself to bits instead of becoming a brain-eaten President would have been equally cool.
I'm really disappointed in the series. It started off so well.

Obviously Peter needs to be scared in the face for his balls to finally drop. =)
I thought the worst part was that syler lived through getting stuck completely through by a sword. What was flashed within his eyes at the end?
