Historic rosaries

On a whim, I clicked on the "museum inspired rosaries" banner ad on my Gmail. I was surprised to find a decently sized collection of antiques. Ranging from aristocratic gaudiness to glow-in-the-dark kitsch, it showed how these devotional tools have evolved over time.

Particularly interesting were the ornately jeweled items worn by wealthy Peruvian

Then there's the jet crucifix of mysterious origins that they unearthed at Jamestown! Where did it come from? Who owned it? Was it a trade item? Was there a colonist who was a sekrit Catholic?
