Seconding the person above me. Make sure you're in html mode and not rich text.
Also, because it took me forever to figure out. To put pictures behind a cut, go to rich text mode, hit the cut buttion, type in some text and go to the html mode again. Where the text is within the html, put the image code and ta-da. It's tricky because rich text mode does not allow html at all so it just spits it out.
