[personality] It’s certainly true that Naruto had to get his energy and gusto from someone and that someone is Kushina. She has a clear love for life and family that isn’t going to be beat, not if she has a say.

From what we see in the manga through flashbacks and what little tidbits are given by others Kushina is a fiery, sometimes ill-tempered, impulsive, and passionate woman. She was taken from home at a young age and tasked with housing the nine-tailed fox demon. Most girls would probably be insecure, nervous, and hesitant in a situation like this, but Kushina possesses too much resolve to let something like that keep her down. Not only does she declare that she’ll become the first female Hokage, but when her irritated classmates began to bully her for it, calling her names and teasing she beat the crap out of them rather than waiting to be helped or taking the issue to a teacher. She’s fearless (until you start talking about labor pains), her personality and mindset are anything but meek, and she certainly prefers to handle her problems head on if she can; she’s not without understanding that battle often time consists equally of power and intelligence, however.

After being rescued by Minato the brash tomboy began to slowly change (Some might say it was for the better, but really, who’s to judge her?), her temper simmering down considerably, enough to quell the urges to use her fist to resolve every problem, at least. Her perceived fearlessness isn’t literal. Naturally even the former jinchuuriki has things that she fears but what Kushina possesses is the strength of heart, mind, and character to face those situations with a cool head like any good shinobi should do. This was one of the details about her personality that remained intact at the fore front of her being. As to what actually changes: It’s not so much that she became a new person, but instead it’s more that being with Minato gave her a feeling of peace and belonging. Every now and again her old temperament still flares up and she can become violent pretty much on reflex, but she’s also demonstrated an awareness of it, along with an effort to stop these slip-up’s, as illustrated by her immediately becoming sheepish after hitting Naruto on the head in a fit. She and Minato argue from time to time and it’s stated that he’s only ever won one of them (their final argument no less). Her favorite feature about herself is her hair, referring to it as her own personal “akai ito”, red string of fate, meaning that she believes in such things even if it was only after being rescued by him.

Kushina is all around very accepting of most others and usually she’s pretty laid back and at ease in familiar company, such as with the villagers. She doesn’t have to know you to be kind to you; the same goes for wanting to help you. Just be careful not to push her too far. It may be that it’s a bit difficult to get on her really bad side but you’d regret it the moment you were there. Kushina is prone to raising her voice to outdoor volumes and using the word “like” and the nonsense word “dattebane” when she gets flustered, excited, or worked up. That temper is so infamous that it actually called for an immediate change of her classmates’ teasing nickname for her. The sight of her wild red hair lashing about through the air as she beat them into submission was enough to make them start calling her “the bloody habanero” instead of simply “tomato”. You almost have to feel sorry for them.

By the time that we meet her in the manga it seems that she’s become much more mellow (or that could just be the fact that she’s been part of Naruto’s sub consciousness for so long) , and we get to see that she’s matured and has a very gentle motherly side to her as well. She remains more emotional and impulsive, still, at the point that I’m pulling her from. The glimpse into Kushina’s personality before death is painfully brief but it tells a lot. The prospect of parenthood clearly excited her just as much as the idea of child birth seemed to be the one thing that frightened her. It’s way too easy to picture her dragging Minato from store to store getting ready for Naruto’s arrival, reading through parenting and pregnancy books and being just naïve enough to be treated to constant surprises in their pages. Naruto’s love for ramen probably comes from Kushina as well, she likely went ahead and tried sneaking in a few bowls from Ichiraku’s over the course of the ten months carrying him (Just like, one bowl can’t hurt!).

Once she begins to get past the immediate memories of her canon-point then her easier going and playful personality is bound to shine through again.

[orientation] Kushina has an in-canon marriage with Minato Namikaze. In Kushina’s own words they were in love. No other relationships or romantic interests are implied in series so her orientation is (presumably just) heterosexual.

[appearance] n/a

[wish] Kushina wishes, more than anything, for the chance to live with Minato and Naruto like a family, even if it’s not until they can be reunited properly in the next life; like it would have been in the one they're leaving behind.

[requested house] Komainu

[misc notes] Due to her lineage as one of the Uzumaki clan Kushina is said to have outstanding longevity. One relative/fellow clansman actually lived from the founding of Konohagakure all the way until Kushina came to the village as a child during the third Hokage’s reign. She was once the jinjchuuriki for the nine-tailed demon fox, but is no longer. She was also said to be well known for her skill with bare fist fighting style, taijutsu. She’s a young woman who is well accustomed to a vigorous, fast paced lifestyle. She’s physically fit, and in the prime of her youth. Even though the bracelets will inhibit the use of chakra she should not be found without the capacity to defend herself in most situations. Taijutsu/Hand-to-hand was supposed to make up a bulk of her fighting style (she was supposed to be skilled at a unique style of ninjutsu later in life, and a frightening level of bare-fist fighting style from a young age). She’s like the mom that’s been training in hardcore martial arts since she was a kid, she might look it but she’s far from the ideal target for an attack on the street.

Also, a question: Is it possible for people from different districts and houses to still have lodgings together, or would they have to both or all be from the same district/house for that to be allowed?

The placement of Kushina's tattoo will be her right thigh, higher up near her hip, not quite to the side, but not fully on the front either: somewhere right in between. She will not be cursed initially.

SAMPLES

[sample 1#] Her hands reached down to brace against the floor, carefully pushing her limits in a bid to stand on her own for the first time in days. Every attempt before that moment had been assisted, almost too much for the strong-willed kunoichi to bear. What a sorry state to be found in! If her friends could see it then they might think she looked like just a shadow of her former self.

Well, she had been through hell before arriving there, after all. Even with her injuries healed and her life brought back from the brink it was hardly any condition for Kushina herself to walk around freely in. In fact the first day hadn’t even yielded so much as half-conscious mutterings. Dreams, when she could remember pieces of them, were teased with memories from just before death and haunted by her encounter with her husband in that strange wood. They always came in snatches of recollection, never fully connected so it was difficult to recall exact events when the woman finally came to.

Well, that was two weeks ago. Now that she was finally functioning at a proper mental capacity she wanted to get a better idea of how things worked from her own perspective instead of second and third party accounts.

The pain that rippled through her as abused muscles were pushed was ignored. She was far too stubborn to simply sit around just because it hurt, she’d hardly be in the state she was in if that were true. The one thing that was conceded was her need for support, using the wall to brace shaky step after step that brought her closer to the door. Once she was close enough to make out the murmur of voices Kushina leaned back on that same wall and slid slowly down to the floor, sliding the door open just a crack. Ears strained to remain alert, blue eyes glued to the doorway for any sign of shadows or figures coming or going. From where she was propped up in her room she could simply listen and take in the bustle on the other side. It might have been a crude form of intelligence gathering, but it was the best that she could do, and stealth wasn’t exactly an issue at the moment.

It was all still very strange for her to try to adapt to, even after being in Ukiyo for a few days. Her injuries kept her from moving around a great deal, let alone leaving her room. This meant that she was essentially dead weight, and dead weight was a very fast track for racking up a greater debt; the sooner that she could get the hang of things and start working her way to freedom, and Minato waiting for her in the afterlife, the better.

[sample 2#] [If you've seen Kushina in person before then the first thing you'll notice as the video opens is that she's looking much better than the last few days. It's her first official post to the network, now that a house mate has been kind enough to show her how to work her fansuwoth properly.

Long hair is tied back into a ponytail, and combined with that sort of glaring, almost pout, and her stance-- even with the yukata she's been designated she kind of looks more like a tomboy than she has probably in years.] She looks just a bit... peeved as she assesses her state of dress. There is muttering, terse muttering that can't fully be made out, but you might catch snatches of words or phrases here and there.]

[After a few moments of this her attention turns to where her device is recording, and her arms fold, full of authority that she DOES NOT HAVE here.]

So, like, you all seriously expect me to entertain a bunch of strange men? [And possibly women, and non-humans too Kushina dear. Just as soon as the arms were folded they come undone, balling into fists as she throws her hands down.] I'm a married woman'ttebane! This is ridiculous! I mean, I get that it's probably the fastest way to pay off my debt, but seriously! If this is really what the afterlife is like it sucks! [For a moment her expression becomes a full out glare, stomping towards the table, then she's clasping the device in both hands tightly, and raising the volume of her voice as if that alone will summon the person that she's seeking. Her face gets closer as well.]

Hey, hey! Minato, are you here? I'm coming to find you, right now dattebane, wherever you are!

[Oh dear. The feed ends abruptly there.]
