I don't know about Baltimore, but I've certainly walked around DC at night without feeling particularly endangered. Heck, I've walked around New York City at night without feeling endangered.

We've walked around cities at night and I never felt like I was about to be bopped in the head or something. I'm not really sure where she's coming from with the overzealous muggers. It's not like I want to walk down a back alley shouting slurs and obscenities...

Are the streets all glitzed (a word?) up? Some aspects of modern Christmas are off-putting, but I love the lights and decorations.

Unfortunately, I have no idea, since I don't travel much farther than Bethesda most of the time these days. I was in Dupont Circle last week and didn't see decorations, but I have no idea if there are other areas.

Annapolis seems like a likely place to have pretty lights, I would think.

I should be able to talk her into Annapolis. I suppose it's the small cities/towns that really get into the decoration thing.

From the sound of things you seem pretty beat, so *hug* and hope you get some good rest tonight.
