Epic fail.

I believe it was Dan Akroyd in a movie with John Candy (the title of which I'm drawing a blank on) where in Dan suggests to John's character "You wouldn't know a good time if it fell outta the sky landed on your face and started to wiggle."

That about sums me up. Although it's less about ignorance of what I was participating in than how to ( Read more... )

Not fail.

You kissed a woman. Awkwardly, maybe, but you seem to indicate that she didn't run away. First kisses are sometimes awkward.

This is not a fail.

I guess I just failed at what I remembered it being like. Then again, it's been so long since I've even kissed someone that I really shouldn't be relying on my memory of how it's supposed to go.

Thanks for the alternate perspective. Maybe there's hope.

Dude, there's no "supposed to" with kissing. Everybody likes it different. You kissed somebody = AWESOME! Awkwardness goes with the territory of courtship (for lack of a better or more modern term). Just enjoy!

I have no idea what I'm doing any more, what the rules are, how to interpret, or even how to properly respond to a woman or romance.

Nobody does. True Story. Just b yourself.

and the movie U quoted was "The Great Outdoors".

'Myself' tends to be incredibly awkward and foolish when presented with such events. It's such an unpleasant experience (even in the face of a nice, genuine kiss) that it's a little scary to think about it happening again. And of course it's very pleasant to think about it happening again.

Seriously, I feel like it's the first time all over again.

And I'm sorry I missed the BWB. It wasn't a good day to be me and I didn't want to inflict that on you and DW at your own party. Next year, come rain or nuclear holocaust - I'll be there.

Hey, taking the positive approach: kissing's a lot further on than you've been in a while. It's often akward when two folks kiss for the first time. Also, fark teh rules. There are no rules. Smooch. If'n it didn't go so well, ask for a do-over. Try what seems to work for both of you. Talk about it. Joke about it. Find out what works (this can be quite fun). Glad you're back in the pool again, even if'n you feel like you're dogpaddling in the deep end...

*smooch*
