Never been an addictive person.

I'm a little concerned about becoming dependent to a relatively mild pain prescription. It's Vicodin but the dose assigned to me is for someone about 1/2 my size. I do actually have a need for it in the relatively short term because of a side effect from the white blood cell booster called Neupogen ( Read more... )

You know, there's nothing wrong with doctor-controlled pain management, especially if it improves your quality of life so much. Those daily aches and pains can reall rob your days.

They certainly can in and my case have. I'll wait to see if post treatment these aches and pains continue. If so I'll pursue pain management with a physician. I just don't want to risk falling into a dependency trap while being treated for something else.

By the way - how's that steampunk costume coming? I'm starting to look at a more formal-wear Victorian gentleman costume for my next steampunk rig.

you won't get dependent unless you are taking them when you DON'T have pain. I read something that narcotics don't become addictive unless you are taking them without a reason.

I hope you're right. I also hope that I have the good sense to know when the pain is appropriate to take them and when it's mild enough that I don't need them.

I guess I'm just a little paranoid. There's zero chance of becoming a long term addict since I won't use any illegal means to get the meds and when they run out for the specific use they were prescribed for I won't seek any refills.

I take vicodin for migraines (like the size for someone larger than me). Though, for my migraines, it's either that - or take 4 aleve, and still be out. I'm now on daily meds for migraines =/ which I'm not happy about.
