Mike boarded the plane, looking to his older brother, “Do you think he’ll be happy to see us?”
“I think he’ll wonder how we got his address.” Golf replied with a frown.
They sat down in their seats, Golf almost immediately falling asleep while Mike couldn’t bring himself to shut his eyes.
Welcome to Korean Air, the flight is expected to arrive at three pm Korean time. Please enjoy your flight, came a voice over the intercom.
Mike thought over the last few months; Nichkhun hadn’t been back to Thailand since he began the promotions for “Come to Thailand.” He bounced a leg excitedly, waking his brother.
“Are you going to tell him you’ve been cheating on him while he’s gone?” Golf asked in Japanese so no one around would understand them, annoyed at Mike’s bounciness.
Mike’s excitement instantly vanished, “It would probably come up eventually.”
A knock on the door made Taekyeon double check all the members were at home, and then he rushed to the intercom, turning on the video to see two young men standing there (and not JaeBum, Taekyeon let out a visible sigh). “Who are you?” He asked them.
“Annyeonghaseyo, uh, what comes next?” Golf began before Mike pushed him out of the way.
“Nichkhunnie chingu!” Mike called out, telling Taekyeon they were Nichkhun’s problem.
Taekyeon went to the door. “Where are you from?” He asked them in English.
“Oh good, a language I understand.” Mike replied with a grin. “We’re Nichkhun’s friends from Thailand; we decided to pay him a visit.” He explained in English.
Taekyeon let them in, “I think he’s in the bedroom.” He told them, pointing to the first bedroom door.
Mike and Golf went to the door and opened it only to see Nichkhun lip-locked with WooYoung. The Thai man in question instantly pulled away as he saw just who entered their room.
“Mike! Golf! What are you doing here?” Nichkhun asked wide-eyed as he looked from WooYoung to Mike.
“We thought we’d surprise you, so I didn’t tell you we were coming to Korea for some promotional things… Didn’t know I’d be the one to get surprised.” Mike replied coldly.
Nichkhun stood up and went over to Mike, “I…” He began, but didn’t have any good excuse.
“What? You cheated on me because you didn’t love me anymore? To get some sort of sexual release? What?” Mike accused instantly.
“I was just using him to get back at you because I knew you were cheating on me!” Nichkhun bit back.
Golf looked at Nichkhun wide-eyed, and then gave a sorrowful look to WooYoung. “How could you do this again, Nichkhun?” He accused quietly.
Nichkhun lowered his head, “It was stupid, but I just wanted…” His voice faded and he glanced to WooYoung for only a moment.
WooYoung looked at Nichkhun, curious as to what was going on.
“Tell him,” Golf ordered Nichkhun. “Tell him the truth.”
“Stay out of this Golf,” Mike told his older brother.
“You already stole Nichkhun from me, why should I let someone else suffer what I did? I hated getting used by you, Nichkhun!” Golf told his brother in Japanese, switching to Thai and looking to Nichkhun for the last sentence.
“I already apologized for that Golf,” Nichkhun replied as he looked to WooYoung. He sighed and went to over the Korean man, sitting next to him on the bed.
“Nichkhun, what’s going on?” WooYoung asked him curiously.
“Where to begin?” Nichkhun asked himself in English, and then switched to Korean, “I’m sorry. I… from the beginning of our relationship to about one month ago, I didn’t actually love you.” He told WooYoung, hoping he was pronouncing everything right since his mind definitely wasn’t focusing in just one language. He looked at WooYoung to make sure he understood and continued, “About six months ago, I found out Mike was cheating on me,” he pointed to Mike, “We had been together for about six years, and for three of years, he’d been cheating. I was really angry and wanted to get back at him. Since you came and told me how you felt, I… I took advantage of your feelings and used you to get back at him.” He admitted.
“What happened one month ago?” WooYoung asked, his voice shaking.
“Something… switched in me. I realized I was no longer using you, but I needed you.” Nichkhun told him, and he hated how sappy the truth was.
“Did you tell him?” Gold interrupted.
“Let’s go to the hotel Golf,” Mike ushered, trying to pull his older brother out the door.
Nichkhun looked to the brothers, “There’s nothing I can do to make it up to you Golf, but we’re not together and haven’t been together for a long time. I know I was your first love, but please, let go already.” He calmly scolded before turning to Mike, his facial expressions hardening, “You, you have no right to be jealous.”
“When did you find out?”
“I was talking with your brother. Not Golf, don’t give him that look. I mean Sand. I heard noises in the background and asked what it was; he told me you had gotten a new boyfriend because he thought we broke up when I left for America for high school.” Nichkhun explained, “That was six months ago.”
Mike looked away, “I’m not ashamed.” He clarified as if it needed to be confirmed.
“Then neither am I.” Nichkhun replied.
“You still used someone!” Golf stressed.
Nichkhun looked back to WooYoung, once again looking confused at the Thai conversation going on in the room, but also looking distraught.
“WooYoung I-” Nichkhun began.
WooYoung stood up and went into the living room, burying his face in a pillow.
Hours had passed and Golf and Mike had gone to their hotel since they had some sort of promotions to do early in the morning. Nichkhun and WooYoung were the only members left in the living room.
“WooYoung, just listen to me please. Let me finish, then you can hate me again, okay?” Nichkhun began. “Mike was not my first love,” He began, glancing to see WooYoung was looking at him with eyebrows furrowed, wondering where this conversation was going.
“I was first dating his older brother, the other one that was here, Golf. But, Mike stole my attention and my heart, and without breaking up with Golf, I started dating his little brother. We discussed breaking up when I went to the United States to study, and for a while I lost contact with both of them. While in the United States, I had a taste of my own medicine, and got used and passed around by some guys who seemed to only get the prostitution part when learning about Thailand. I should have learned to be better, but I just became bitter. When I had the chance to return to Thailand after becoming a trainee, I got back in touch with Golf and Mike simply because my mother kicked me out of the house. I also got back with Mike at that time.” He took a breath and once again surveyed WooYoung’s reaction to his story, letting it all sink in. “When I found out Mike was cheating on me only two weeks after we got back together and I had left for Korea, I was heartbroken. The opportunity to break up with him seemed easy, but I kept going back to him every time I returned to Thailand. When you told me you loved me, I didn’t think about your feelings, or how I felt in America, or how Golf must have felt when he found out Mike and I were together, I only thought of revenge for what Mike did to me. I was blinded by selfish want and I apologize for that.” Nichkhun finished, lowering his head and playing with his fingernails.
WooYoung remained silent, and all that could be heard was their steady breathing, watching Nichkhun carefully and evaluating just how “sorry” Nichkhun truly was. The token cute boy of 2PM was living up to his name, and even though WooYoung wanted to be angry at Nichkhun and yell at him for breaking his heart and losing his trust and being an all-around bastard, he also couldn’t find in his heart to do any of that. “You… I can’t trust you anymore. But my feelings haven’t changed.” He stuttered. He looked out the window then back to Nichkhun, “Can we start over? Do you truly love me now? Are you over Mike now? How do I know you aren’t lying to me to get me in bed, like you did six months ago?” WooYoung accused.
Nichkhun nodded, “I… I can’t make you trust me without allowing time. If you are willing to get back with me, I will be a good, loyal boyfriend. I promise. I’m over Mike; I’m over trying to get revenge on him. As I said, about a month ago I realized I loved you, and I meant that with all my heart. But by that point, I didn’t want to tell you the truth because I knew you’d be angry. I was afraid to lose you.” He told his band mate.
“What will you do when you go to Thailand? Stay with Golf and Mike?” WooYoung quizzed.
“I will… get a hotel to stay in.” Nichkhun replied, the pause showing the bit of regret he had for giving up his family for someone he wasn’t even with anymore.
Another few minutes in a more comfortable silence went by before WooYoung spoke up again, “Nichkhun..?”
“What?” Nichkhun asked, looking at WooYoung curiously.
“So it’s true all Thai guys are gay, right?” he asked the Thai man seriously, “I mean, how else could all this drama come up?”
“For the last WooYoung, No; it’s not true.”
