The official ballot title language for Proposition 8 is "Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry." The entirety of the text to be added to the constitution is: "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."

the saddest part is all the religous groups that spent 35 million on the ad campaign that blatantly lied... and kept on lying to the point that people thought it was true. and i can't help but think the 70 million or so that was used to fight and support prop 8 could have gone to MUCH better uses...

I felt bad, one of my favorite students ever, during a discussion in one of my classes said (after i mentioned how dishonest the YES on 8 ads were), "and it goes the other way too.. Prop 8 doesnt take away rights." I had to bring in my ballot booklet and show her. It was sad cause I usually trust her on everything and she is so smart!

It was great to have debates in my classes. Just when you're ready to underestimate children...

Ill be at Beck tomorrow. I saw him at the bowl and it was great.

I love the activism lately, I wish it had happened before the voting and I hope (if the prop can't be overturned) that next time there is a challenge to civil rights of this magnitude, we all step up before the right is taken away!

yay!
