Weekend update.

I had a productive weekend. I put the cheap ass curtains up in the office. These curtains are so cheep I'm not certain that they won't melt in the sun. I finished putting the stone path in in the front. The children started using it right away even if the adults don't use it. And I got together with mendoza and lawbard and we went through the Academy bins ( Read more... )

Seasions 3 & 4 are by far the best. Season five kind of goes off the rails, gets lost, and never quite finds its way back.

t-tunics can be girlie- if you make them the right way. Instead of doing buttons, why don't you try doing a lacing pattern? or maybe you want middle eastern. I find middle eastern perfect for pennsic personally.

otherwise, I'm not helpful- as a well fitted coterherdie is awesome, but not something I exel in.

Simplicity 8725? create_universe July 14 2009, 04:16:16 UTC
Note sure which pattern you are using. The usual complaint about Simplicity 8725 is that is just uses entirely too much fabric and isn't practical except for perhaps stage use. Simplicity 9758 is a bit more economical, but I don't see it using tons of buttons. Of course, both of those are out of print so you might be using another pattern altogether.

I was going to suggest that you take a look at McCalls M5499. Hancock Fabrics is having a 99 cent sale on all McCalls patterns this week. Then I realized the closest Hancock Fabric to you is probably the one in Pennsylvannia. Not exactly practical.

Yes, 8725, that's the one. redfirelily July 14 2009, 14:09:05 UTC
Thanks for the info. I've had the pattern for a long time now and have wanted to make it. I read online that the main problem is that the fabric is not evenly distributed and hangs on the sides because it requires tow large semi circles. So it was suggested that instead of putting all of it on the sides to divide the circles evenly in quarters on the sides and font and back. I actually like having all that fabric as long as it flows right.

I was going to try and skip buttons and zippers entirely because it looks like a dress that can be slipped on. Any thoughts? Have you made this pattern?

and um...do I know you?

I haven't sewn this pattern create_universe July 14 2009, 19:51:46 UTC
Sounds like you have been reading the same pattern reviews from the same sites as I have. So I guess I really don't have anything more to add. I stuck in that first paragraph as an afterthought really. I was all ready to post about the McCalls pattern being on sale, and then when I realized that wasn't going to help you I figured I should fluff up the post a little to try to be helpful.

I doubt if you know me by name, but you would probably recognize my face from Madrigal (PC, Martin) and Endgame (NPC, various).
