I'm sleepy and sick and hungry and my fingers hurt from counting syllables for haiku and my head hurts from I know not what and I'm sick of computers and television and popular media and I want to go live in a hole with my dog for the rest of my life ( Read more... )

You have lots of pain in your future. But I got mine out and they didn't put needles in my mouth.

They gave me nitrous oxide first, and trust me... that makes the whole experience kind of worth while. And then they sprayed numby cold stuff on my arm while they search for a vein to put the IV in with the anesethic... or whatever the stuff is that makes you pass out for surgery.

I remember this much: The doctor found the vein, put the IV in, and I heard him say, "I'm going to count backwards from five. When I reach one, you'll be asleep. 5, 4, 3.."

And then I woke up, an hour later, with tons of gauze in my mouth.

Healing from that really, really sucks though. Bleeding in your mouth is horrible. And the stitches are the kind that dissolve... so you end up swallowing half dissolved stitches. That's the worst part. The actually surgery isn't bad at all.

No worries! Plus, you'll look cute with slightly swollen cheeks... a little Betsy chipmunk...

Buahaha.

No no no, it's really not so bad, I was just teasing.

Plus, if your wisdom teeth are above the gums (mine were still underneath, they had to make an incision to get them out, like real surgery) then it'll be way easy and you'll be fine in no time.

*hugs*

Did I ever tell you about my wisdom teeth? Some people have awful experiences....my ex tried to escape from the hospital cuz he was still drugged and he didn't even have any attached. I, on the other hand, had all four teeth attached so they had to break them off...was talking about X-Mas to the nurses, woke up, asked to leave, and stood up on my own and would have walked out to the car if they hadn't shoved me into a wheelchair. Tell more funniness later when I don't have to type. This is harder. Anyways, I was off of the pain killer in two days and I never took it as often as I was supposed to. Supposedly half of it is mental...go in relaxed and you'll feel better I think...I hope..i'm praying ;-)

Food eaten today: Donut, Pizza, Cake
Drinks: Coffee, Milk, Juice, Water
I'm healthy...so healthy, I think I should create my own diet program. Everyone would love it.

I just read about impacted wisdom teeth on the internet. I find this fascinating and hope my jawbone is large enough for a third set of molars. Do you have bony or tissue, vertical, horizontal or distal impaction? Inquiring minds desire to know.

Ooh, I didn't know you can get tumors from wisdom teeth.

Erm, here's lots of interesting and/or disturbing information about wisdom teeth.

I just wanted to express my gratitude to everyone who's offered such wise and comforting words about my impending surgery. Factoids about tumors really take the edge off the blinding terror.
