Wow, so I have been hibernating again. I really hate being sick all the time, but I am tired of complaining, so I will talk about some good stuff. . .
I made it to Conflict this weekend and loved it.
The concerts were fantastic. I got introduced to some of the types of bands that i really had to ask myself, why have I not heard of these people? So my favorite preforming group of the con was Skinny White Chick. I had heard of them at Alec's concerts, but never really heard them. Let me tell you, they are worth the hype. My favorite 3 song combination was about Wendy choosing to got with Captain Hook instead of the Lost Boys called the "Wendy Cycle". Alligator in the House is a growing favorite as well. Wow! I bummed money to buy the CD. It was totally worth it! Well, actually I bought the CD with one of their other incarnations Tricky Pixie.
I also saw S. J. at the smoked salmon party. That alone was worth going to the con for. Wow I had to leave at about 11pm, but wish I could have stayed. The music was WONDERFUL!
Another highlight was Steve Macdonald. His music evoked so much emotion. The "Merry Meet" song he sang at the end of his concert had me in tears. The best time I had was at the jam session he lead on Saturday. Talk about 5+ amazing guitarists (12 and 6 string) and several other instruments including 2 banjos and a couple of them that I should know the names of, but my brain is spacing. (Maybe a tiple-10string small guitar like creature that is REALLY cool.)
I also ran into several old friends and acquaintances. If you like filk singing then plan on this con for next year. It is worth it!
So onto new goals. . .write, draw and live! This is good stuff!
