Once again a long while has passed since my last update. Don't worry though, its okay now, long lapses in presence are EB tradition. Its a trick i do, where i create this little shadow in my head then conceal myself in it, unfortunately existential shadows seem to be much stickier than the simple lack of light real life ones... You know, 10 guys with side cutters could get all those lights off a lot faster than the rest of the crew could get the ship ready to get underway. If it counted they wouldn't worry about saving the lights.
You know your ship was the only one to get underway on 9/11. The only ship that was both capable and armed in MIDPAC. I remember manning the console ready to shoot down incoming airliners if they weren't squawking IFF. That week was the only time any Aegis equipped ship covered Hawaii with SPY radar.
Enjoy your circles in the water and get a bit connected with the guys in your department. It makes things easier if you spend some time hanging out in CSMC and just being cool with everyone.
As for Hawaii, I hated my first year there and after that is wasn't so bad. I was ready to go when I left, but I miss some things now.

We didn't put the screen up. I think there was something wrong with it.
I started cranking a little over two weeks ago in the cheifs mess. Its pretty easy. Except last week we were underway and had twice as many cheifs on board because ATG was here... There were so many cheifs on board some of them were sleeping in the E6 and below berthings and four others had to sleep on the couches in the cheifs mess... They eat a LOT of fried chicken...
