It's amazing how much better the Soda tastes over seas. In the US high fructose corn syrup is used to sweeten Soda but in the Gulf they use real sugar because it's healthier. Not that soda is that healthy in the first place ( Read more... )

The soda in Thailand was the best. Sprite and Pepsi were both super awesome there. If you get to Australia get the Schwep's Traditional Lemonade. It is the greatest stuff ever.

I didn't care for the soda that we got in the Gulf. We called it "sqigglely line soda" because of all the Arabic writing on the cans. It always tasted funny to me. The only thing that was semi-OK to drink was the Mountain-Dew. We had one guy whose wife mailed him a case of Mountain Dew from the states in the middle of deployment. He didn't share with anyone. He was a t-hawk guy too now that I think of it. Mefford.

I wouldn't share it either! Well, I also wouldn't get a case of Mt Dew sent to me... But if anyone sends me cookies... I'm hording them!

When I was there we had a joke that there was a billet for a SPY tech named Dave, of questionable sanity. Do you still have one?

When I got there it was FC2 Dave Branton who is still a good friend of mine. He transferred and we got FC3 Dave Helmer.
