Personal History: Maddy was born to Aileen and Sean Hayes and everything in her world was perfectly normal. She grew up attending muggle school getting decent marks, and as an only child was very close to her parents. Her family owns and operates a candy shop in the small tourist town of Kiltimagh in western Ireland.
On her eleventh birthday everything changed though, she received her Hogwarts letter and saw a new side to her parents. They ordered her to burn the letter and never speak of it again, but she couldn’t just ignore the opportunity of a lifetime. She locked herself in her room, pretending to throw a fit as she carefully copied the letter word for word, hiding the copy in her room. She finally pretended to give in and threw the letter in the fire. Her parents told her that she would be happier this way when they tucked her in that night.
Maddy didn’t have any plans to be normal though, not when she had the chance to be something amazing. She crept out her window after she was sure that her parents were sound asleep and with nowhere else to go, ran to her grandfather. Surprisingly enough, her grandfather didn’t need any convincing at all. He promised that he would gather all the things she needed and that he would have her over the night before she needed to leave, so he could see her off.
She quickly returned to her own house, her parents none the wiser. Everything went according to plan, Her grandfather had gotten her everything off her list, and a brand new broom as a late birthday present. It was truly the best day of her life. Maddy got to Hogwarts and was promptly sorted in to Gryffindor, though the hat did debate Hufflepuff for a good while. She owled her parents the very next morning but hasn’t spoken to them since. Her grandfather moved from Ireland to London, where she now stays for the summer.
The truth of the matter is, her father was also accepted to Hogwarts and attended for a couple years before dropping out. He wasn’t very gifted with any of his classes except arithmancy, and decided that the muggle school system would be better for him. He was also greatly teased during his short time at the school, and didn’t have many friends. His father and mother, Maddy’s grandparents, were also a witch and wizard, but they supported their son’s decision. Maddy knows none of this.
Personality: Maddy is a bit shy when she meets new people, especially students older than herself. Once you get to know her though she loosens up immensely. She loves to have fun, once she’s done with her work that is. Since she left her family to come to Hogwarts she studies very hard, wanting to do her best in everything, not that it helps much with those subjects she just doesn’t get. She’s quite loyal to her friends and doesn’t mind getting in to a duel or even a fist fight to protect them. She tries to avoid fighting when it’s just for her own sake though, unless they really deserve it, which they almost always do. Maddy very much lives in the present, she doesn’t care to make plans for the future until she gets there. For now she’s content to enjoy her time at Hogwarts and worry about a career much later.
Physical Description: Maddy sticks out, she has fiery red hair with slight waves, and is covered in freckles. She loves the hair, hates the freckles. Her eyes are best described as a grayish-blue, but in certain outfits the blue seems to pop more. She stands 5’ 2” and weighs 120 lbs, making her rather petite.

Hobbies and talents - max of five:
Art - Maddy loves to draw her friends, she’s not very fond of landscapes/inanimate objects though.
Flying - she’s not very good at it yet but she’s determined to put the broom her grandfather got her to good use.
Weaknesses - for every hobby or talent, the character must have two weaknesses:
Afraid of Animals - pretty much anything other than an owl terrifies Maddy, magical or not.
Can’t swim - she just never learned how, she spent a lot of her time learning to make sweets instead of going out and playing with kids her own age.
Easily riled up - she won’t go picking fights but it’s not hard to pick one with her
Family - she loves her family, and it’s been extremely hard for her not being able to talk to her parents for years
