Our apologies for the multiple delays in our regular schedule, folks. In an attempt to (mostly) catch up, we're giving you a double recap of here of The Quest, parts one and two.
holdouttrout's recap for Line in the Sand is already in the queue and we'll have it next week.

The Quest, part 1 )

1.) Always, I think. For no reason.
2.) Somewhere in the middle there- he seemed awful not-freaked-out by stuff.
3.) One must always be prepared to look one's best... and have a friend along, just in case.
4.) Probably one of the ones he used to kill Jack in "Abyss"
5.) Once they were 'bad guy chicken cordon bleu', very likely
Part 2
1.) Teal'c has made a thorough study of Tau'ri culture during his time on Earth, including nursery rhymes, old wives' tales and folk songs
2.) Daniel doesn't have the gene (he'd have gone off to play with Ancient stuff before now) so I guess some headsuckers don't need one
3.) Totally realistic (and very much)
4.) Probably both
5.) Vala finally getting the idea of 'team'. She's been on her own for so long, I think she surprises herself by how much she's come to rely on the others.
6.) Haiku, but that's just me

::nods:: It was the one moment in this entire two-parter when I felt a flash of "Yes, this is Ba'al." I hate how wimpy the Goa'uld are in the last two seasons, but that was menace and creepiness. ::shivers::
Vala finally getting the idea of 'team'.
Yep, that's my favorite, too. :)

The question of whether or not the repositories require the gene is a fascinating one. We argued it back and forth, when the ep first aired, because Vala sets it off here and Daniel sets it off at the end of S7. Does he have the gene because he once Ascended or not? Does the protein marker interfere or not? Fascinating contradictions all round.
I cheered. Then I backed up and watched it a couple more times. And I cheered every time that punch landed.
Hee! Me too. :)
