Pairing: Nihckhun/Chansung
‘I’ll see you guys’ later okay? I just need to clean out my locker.’ Chansung waved to Jaebeom and Taecyeon.
They nodded their heads and walked away in the opposite direction Chansung was walking towards. School was finally over and Chansung found another excuse to abandon his friends, to take on a different behaviour so odd that he himself fears and at the same time loves. During this time, he turns into a different person. He’s more gentle and caring, more tender and loving.
‘Khun-ah!’ Chansung runs after a familiar backside he had spent much time memorising.
Nichkhun turned around, staring straight at Chansung with frowning eyes and pursed lips. Chansung came to a halt, not daring to take another step closer; he’s never seen Nichkhun so angry. Chansung scratched the back of his head awkwardly standing in the same spot he came to a stop at, ‘What’s wrong?’
‘Wimp.’ Nichkhun merely stated before heading out of school.
Though their school was now empty, Chansung didn’t fail to be alert as always. He followed Nichkhun out of the school and pulled on his arm. ‘What are you talking about?’ Chansung asked without hesitation.
Nichkhun rolled his eyes, ‘As if you don’t know. I overheard that conversation you had with your friends in history this morning.’
Chansung thought about it carefully, retracing his steps and thinking about the conversation he and his friends had in period two. He gasped as he remembered the very words he spoke.
‘Did you want me to refresh your memory?’ Nichkhun asked conceitedly, ‘I’m. Not. Gay.’
Chansung frowned, ‘You know that that was only talk.’
It was only talk. Taecyeon had asked an unexpected question in the middle of a conversation Chansung had brought up. They were supposed to work on their ten minute speech due in three weeks about the Korea War and Vietnam War; instead being the friends that they are, they spent a forty-five minute lesson talking instead.
‘Shut up Chansung. When are you going to make us official?’ Nichkhun pushed Chansung’s excuse aside.
The two of them have never stood so far apart when alone. Chansung bit on his lower lip, thinking of what to say before speaking, ‘You know that the people I hang around with don’t accept us kind of people.’
Nichkhun narrowed his eyes and stared at Chansung, ‘And what exactly are “us kind of people”?’
‘You know,’ Chansung then lowered his voice, ‘Gay people.’
Nichkhun turned around and continued walking hurriedly, moving as far as he could away from his boyfriend. He wanted to put up a strong front but he knew that deep down all he wanted to do was cry - secretly of course; so no-one would see.
‘Wait!’ Chansung called out after Nichkhun. He ran after Nichkhun even though Nichkhun didn’t come to a stop.
Grabbing hold of Nichkhun’s right shoulder with his left hand, he pulled him around into a hug, ‘I’m not a wimp.’
Nichkhun scoffed and rolled his eyes even though he knew that Chansung couldn’t see, ‘We’ll see about that.’
Chansung immediately pulled away from the hug, Nichkhun’s hand still in his tight grasp and looked up to the sky before shout, ‘I’m only gay for Nichkhun Buck Horvejkul! The Thai transfer student who structures Korean sentences better than I do. And I love that Thai kid!’
Nichkhun smiled. Really, what more could he ask for at this moment?
