7. Phone - JayWoo
‘I miss you.’ Wooyoung pouted as he spoke through the phone.
‘I know, I miss you too - and the guys, but it doesn’t mean I can come back at this moment…’
‘You miss me more that the others though right?’ Wooyoung asked, wanting to reassure himself.
Jay smiled as he looked out the small slit between his blinds, watching the grey sky clear a little for a sunny day - still breezy with a cold wind, ‘If you know already, why are you even asking me? Are you that insecure?’
Wooyoung pouted, walking away from the other five boys who were now curious about their leader’s answer, ‘I just wanted to make the others jealous, you know that.’
‘So how was your visit to your hometown, boy?’ Jay fell back onto his bed and heaved a sigh.
There was a short pause and a short sound of Wooyoung taking a short breath.
‘Do you really want to know?’
Jay nodded his head.
‘No one can see you nodding your small god damn head, so give me a yes or a no answer dammit.’ Wooyoung hissed through the phone.
Jay chuckled, ‘Bit I knew you would have known that I nodded my head, so I didn’t bother replying,’
‘Even so, an answer would be nice. I miss you being here but now to miss your voice too? It’s a bit too much for me don’t you think?’ Wooyoung asked with a tone of sarcasm.
‘I don’t appreciate your tone of sarcasm mister.’ Jay huffed.
Wooyoung fell back onto Jay’s bed and took a whiff of what was left on the pillow of Jay’s scent. ‘Well if you must know, it was rather tear jerking.’
Jay laughed, ‘I saw the pictures taken of you while you visited family and friends on Naver. You didn’t look life you were crying in any of them.’
‘And…?’
‘You looked happy. That’s all.’ Jay shrugged his shoulders.
Wooyoung sat up and pulled Jay’s blanket over his legs, ‘I was.’
‘I know.’ Jay replied.
Wooyoung looked around the room and said in the midst of their phone call’s silence, ‘I miss you heaps, come back for me?’
‘I…’
‘This room feels empty without you, each time we dance I feel like I’ve made a wrong step. When we gather before a performance to say ‘fighting!’ it’s not your hand on top of mine, but Chansung’s, there’s nothing wrong with Chansung, it’s just it’s not the same. The number six is lonely you know? We need to be seven again. Soon.’ Wooyoung stressed his point.
Jay hesitated, ‘I want to come back, you know that I do, but I don’t think the time is right.’
‘I love you. Now do you think that the time is right?’ Wooyoung finished their phone call with a simple hang up.
